The nonparental care choice that I have chosen to discuss is a center-based care facility. Talking to this parent I would recommend a center-based facility, because we are “accredited by such organizations as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), or licensed by state agencies as well as programs facilitated by faith-based organizations that may be non-profit” (Bojczyk, 2012). This is one advantage, because when the facilities are covered by one of these agencies there are certain regulations that they have to be followed for example: ratio (children per caregiver), curriculum (lesson plans), and they are supplies with the materials that are needed to complete the lesson plans. The children will have great socialization in the classrooms, because they are all the same ages, and there are different centers that children will be able to play dress up, and work with each other. The cost is $115 a week for toddler ages, and there is a program that is available through the state, which the state will pay or help pay for childcare. The caregivers would never be over the max of children they have and if so, there will be two caregivers in the classroom. The caregivers hang the children’s art up in the classroom, and every month there is a different theme to follow the curriculum, and the lesson plans follow the curriculum as well. There are restrooms available for the children to use. Outside there is a playground set with swings, tricycles, and an area where the children can sit if they choose. We do not allow any type of punishment or discipline toward the children, but we redirect them to a different area to play in. The rooms are mopped nightly, and sheets are washed nightly as well. Your child will learn and have fun all in one, and treated as if she was one of our own. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
